UI/UX
This case study showcases the UX design process for Roomify, aimed at helping international students in high-cost US cities find compatible and trustworthy roommates through a strategic matching and verification system.
International students in high-cost US cities struggle to find reliable roommates due to a lack of connections and means to verify roommate reliability.
I conducted user research to discover common expectations and identify potential pain points in finding roommates.
Users expressed concerns regarding the timing, expenses, compatibility, and the financial advantages of securing an appropriate roommate.
The persona is based on information from research and interviews, summarizes the needs and expectations from users' perspective.
I condensed the findings into a solution with two main parts: Roommate Matching and Verification Methods. This approach lets users find and connect with potential roommates easily. To ensure everyone is trustworthy and compatible, I use verification steps:
This method links users' accounts with their student emails upon registration to ensure their reliability and stability as current students.
Initially, users were asked to share a room photo and get friend recommendations, but many found it too lengthy. So, I made these steps optional and moved them to a separate page for users to complete as they wish.
A system that includes personality tags, voice prompts, and basic information (such as name, gender, pets, school, location) to improve compatibility.
Roomify created a special platform that helps users find good matches and trustworthy roommates through Roommate Matching and Verification Methods.
